V-Mail

   Wish someone would send me a reading glass.” 
​To save space and weight, V-Mail, or Victory Mail letters were photographed and transported on microfilm. Before delivery, they were printed but only partially enlarged, and what arrived in the mailbox was a smaller version of the original. (Pictured) Dr. Post called V-Mail “dehydrated mail.” In Newsletter No. 26, May 1, 1944, he wrote, “Wish someone would send me a reading glass.”
